Almost all software
applications in the world are developed with at least one purpose in
mind, "Saving Time". May it be a windows application, a java applet, a
shell script, a macro, tiny applications hosted in a sidebar gadget, a
search engine, an e-commerce application, a tic tac toe game (yes! try
playing it on a paper), all the projects, products, API's, solutions,
services, everything which has been developed, at the least, save time.
Think about it, a software which saves more time is a better software.
The idea of "Saving Time" may also be one of the guiding
principles behind the latest approach in Windows Vista™, called Preview
Handlers. Preview handlers enable the user to interact with files more
efficiently, by giving a read only preview in the Windows Vista preview

Очевидно, осознавая спрос со стороны "знающих толк в хорошем звуке" пользователей на дискретные звуковые платы, компания Asus на выставке CeBIT 2007 продемонстрировала продукты серии
Xonar D2. Звуковая плата Xonar D2 имеет интерфейс PCI, она основана на чипе производства ADI, обеспечивающем соотношение "сигнал/шум" на уровне 118 дБ при воспроизведении и 115 дБ при записи. Поддерживается полнодуплексный режим с частотой дискретизации 192 КГц и разрядностью 24 бит. Плата поддерживает внушительный набор стандартов серии Dolby Digital и DTS, а специализированный "музыкальный процессор" позволяет преобразовывать музыкальные композиции с лицензионных оптических носителей прямо в форматы MP3 и WMA. В продажу звуковые платы Asus серии Xonar поступят некоторое время спустя после окончания CeBIT 2007, цены не уточняются.
ASUS last week at CeBIT demonstrated its upcoming Xonar-series sound cards. The upcoming Xonar-series spawns two variants, the D2 and D2K in PCI and PCIe x1 interfaces. Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect multi-channel audio encoding technologies are available for digital multi-channel audio. The Xonar-series also features 7.1-channel analog outputs for those that prefer analog to digital.
Early reports claim the ASUS Xonar-series feature an Analog Devices audio DSP, however, ADI denies any involvement in the sound card.
ASUS also touts Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Virtual Speaker and Dolby Virtual Headphone technologies for multi-channel upconverting and surround sound with stereo speakers and headphones. ASUS rates the Xonar-series with an 118dB playback and 115dB recording signal-to-noise ratios. The upcoming Xonar-series sound cards support 24-bit/192 KHz playback and recording resolutions and ASIO 2.0 as well. ASUS internal testing reveals the Xonar-series is capable of low total harmonic distortion rates. The Xonar-series has 0.000006% THD on all eight analog outputs and the single line input, between the frequencies of 20Hz to 20 kHz. ASUS also equips the Xonar-series with an EMI shield and touts it provides “stable audio quality.”

TrueCrypt is a software system for establishing and maintaining an on-the-fly-encrypted volume (data storage device). On-the-fly encryption means that data are automatically encrypted or decrypted right before they are loaded or saved, without any user intervention.
No data stored on an encrypted volume can be read (decrypted) without using the correct password/keyfile(s) or correct encryption keys. Entire file system is encrypted (e.g.., file names, folder names, contents of every file, free space, meta data, etc).
TrueCrypt 4.3 free open-source disk encryption software has been updated with new features and Windows Vista 32 & 64 bit compatibility.
New features:
- Full compatibility with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista:
- Support for User Account Control (UAC).
- All .sys and .exe files of TrueCrypt are now digitally signed with the digital certificate of the TrueCrypt Foundation, which was issued by the certification authority GlobalSign.
- When moving the mouse on a single-CPU computer while reading or writing data to a TrueCrypt volume, the mouse pointer stopped moving for a second every few seconds. This will no longer occur. (Windows Vista issue)
